In 1991, Catherine served as Project Director for the Non-Profit Directory, a comprehensive resource book for non-profit agencies in Santa Clara County. The book, which is available at the University of California, was published by the Non-Profit Center in San Jose. Catherine was also an active member of The Junior League of San Jose and other non-profit agencies.
After keeping many humorous anecdotes about motherhood, Catherine and her sister co-wrote a book and it was published in 1996. Motherhood is not for Wimps was featured in national press, including a two-page article in Sun Magazine, and the bestselling book was recommended as a Mother's Day gift on the Regis and Kathie Lee Show. Catherine was also included in the book, Merry Wives and Others: A History of Domestic Humor Writing, as a foremost Domestic American Humorist.
When Catherine's children started college, she gathered her notes, many scribbled on cocktail napkins from events she attended with her high-tech executive husband, that she had been keeping about life in Silicon Valley, and in 2002, her first novel, Silicon Secrets was published to highly acclaimed praise and was on the Amazon.com Mover and Shaker List for fastest selling books. Jim A. Cox, editor in chief of Midwest Book Review calls Catherine Burr, "A genuinely gifted author."
In 2003, Catherine was a contributing author to the Misadventures of Moms and Disasters of Dads, an anthology, a portion of the proceeds going to charity. Also in 2003, Catherine co-authored and narrated several stories on a romance audio book. In 2006, Catherine's Silicon Valley novel Desires and Deceptions was published, and in 2007 Catherine's co-authored female sleuth novel, Orchids to Die For was published. In 2009, her short story, An Inconvenient Attorney spent 52 weeks on the Amazon.com Top 100 Best Seller List. Catherine's 2nd motherhood humor book, Motherhood Moments was published in 2010 in both print and ebook formats.
Catherine is a multi-nominated Blogger's Choice Award recipient for her column, Motherhood is not for Wimps, written for The Celebrity Cafe. She also received the Outstanding Author award and was twice inducted into the Author's Hall of Fame.
Since 2004, Catherine Burr has been President of New Line Press, an independent publishing house based in California. Through her tutelage, she published 110 books and over twenty-four authors. Beginning in 2008, the company turned digital and was at the forefront of ebook publishing.
After dividing their time between the Caribbean and California, Catherine and her husband now reside in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains in Northern California. They have 3 rescue pets, an Australian Shepherd named Max, Penny the Pug, and Shadow Cat. In 2012, Catherine's Shadow Cat series of children's books, The Cat Who Would Never Be The Same, The Cat Who Had No Name, The Cat who Went Lame, and Shadow Cat Finds Fame were published to the thrill of her cat, who would like to receive 50%.
